Will I need more than one Kybella treatment?

Are you thinking about getting Kybella for your double chin but don’t know how many treatments you will need?  You’re not alone.  One of the questions frequently asked by people considering Kybella is – Will I need more than one Kybella treatment.

What exactly is Kybella

Kybella is an FDA approved injectable treatment for moderate-to-severe fat below the chin.  The active ingredient in Kybella is deoxycholic acid, which is a molecule that is naturally produced by the body, and helps to metabolize dietary fat.

When Kybella is injected into the fat below the chin it breaks down the fat cells, which are flushed from the body in the following weeks.

Will I need more than one kybella treatment?

It typically takes more than one Kybella treatment to achieve the desired reduction in under-chin fat.  Most patients see the best results after 2-4 Kybella sessions, but up to 6 treatments can be administered.  Sessions are spaced at least 4 weeks apart.

The number of Kybella treatments needed differs for each patient, because it is based on their unique chin profile.  It is therefore essential to consult with a skilled, qualified Kybella injector for an evaluation.  A skilled injector can estimate the number of Kybella treatments you will need based on the amount of fat in the area, and your desired results.

What to expect after Kybella treatment?

There is typically some swelling, numbness, and bruising below the chin after Kybella, but these symptoms usually resolve within a few days.  There is no downtime after treatment, so patients can resume regular activities right away (click here to learn more).
