Since Kybella hit the market in 2015 as an alternative to surgery for eliminating the dreaded double chin, it has become a highly requested treatment. Kybella is a non-invasive double chin solution with little risk and downtime. But how does it work, and how many Kybella treatments do you need to see results.

What is Kybella and how does it work
Kybella is a non-surgical procedure that dissolves submental fat (fat below the chin); in just a few short sessions. It is the first and only cosmetic injectable treatment for double chin reduction.

Kybella is a synthetic form of deoxycholic acid, which is a substance that is naturally present in the body, and assists with the digestion of fat.

When injected into the submental area, Kybella breaks down the fat cells by destroying the cell membrane. The dissolved fat is then cleared from the body over the following weeks, via the lymphatic system.

How many Kybella treatments do I need to see results?
It typically requires a series of 2-6 Kybella treatments to achieve the desired reduction in submental fat. Multiple injections are made at each session, depending on the amount of fat that needs to be treated. Sessions are spaced about 6 weeks apart. Most patients start to notice results after one treatment, but the best results can be seen 1-2 months after the required course of treatment is complete.
