Carolyn Millar
"My name is Carolyn Millar and I'm 29 years old. I'm from Calgary. I have an older sister and amazing parents. I come from middle to upper class. I moved to New Westminster six months ago to help with my addiction. I've been battling my addiction for 12 years an have been on a mental and physical rollercoaster. This is the first time I've been really clean, I've had clean time before but never with recovery. My life is now beautiful and I'm starting to feel full and that there is a purpose for me....." |

Sarah
"I grew up in Calgary in a middle class family. Neither of my parents abused drugs or alcohol. I grew up a having straight A's and was extremely active in sports. Around the age of 15 I was introduced to drugs and alcohol, and they became a part of my life for the next 15 years. I abused myself physically and spiritually because there was something missing in my life. My life and relationships took me to many beautiful places, people and events in my travels, but nothing was ever enough for me. After numerous attempts at treatment I finally by the grace of God found my way to a recovery house in New Westminster where I am finding a new way to live. "

Denise Cunningham
"I survived a childhood of verbal, emotional, physical and sexual abuse, (with an alcoholic mother and a father who committed suicide when I was 18). Then I was diagnosed with breast cancer at age 35. Even though the prognosis was not good (the cancer was in 3rd stage), the disease (and Louise Hay's book "You Can Heal Your Life") became a catalyst for making a choice to live each day I was gifted on this earth to the fullest. I'm now 50 and will have been cancer free for 15 years on Jan 23rd of this year. When I was well enough, I went back to school at age 42 and got my BA in counselling psychology. I've learned to take the experiences of my past and look at the gifts they gave me...to see how they helped me to become the compassionate healer I am today. Along the way, I found a way to reconnect with my mother before she died and I moved from merely surviving life, to thriving. " |

Jerry Ewen (Namgyle)
"I am currently 62 years old. On my 50th birthday I was sharing with my guests how I had done petty well everything I wanted to do in my life when someone asked “Do you have any regrets?” After reflecting for a moment I replied “I would have liked to experience what it would be like to be a father…but it is too late for that now.” Little did I know that in the room was my future wife and mother of my children. Fatherhood turned out to be much more than I had ever imagined. Our first child died in the womb. Our second child died at 6 months. Our third child was born and died the same day. My wife, Gyata, and I supported each other through unbearable grief. Our fourth child, Raphael, is now six and a half years old and is the love of our life." |

"My story begins with my brain injury, unexplained virus, in December 18th, 2008. I went to the hospital unexpectantly with massive swelling on my left brain. My story has become one of knowing Oneness and a clarity of purpose, to share with everyOne how simple it really is." |

“My story is a story of love. And a story of hate and disconnect and confusion and despair. And a miraculous return to love. At the age of 26 I married with stars in my eyes, skeletons in my closet, and very little idea of how to create a loving, nurturing relationship. The first seven years of marriage were a living hell, and when our first child was 3, I left our home. My husband and I seemed incompatible in every way and had deeply hurt each another. However, I knew in my heart that our immaturity and “baggage” was getting in the way. I had some life-changing realizations about love and life and nine months later I came back to the marriage. We were later blessed with two more beautiful children and have now been together for 16 years. Let me share with you my intimate journey of healing as a woman, wife and mother.”

Steve Elliott and Lucie Walker
Steve Elliott & Lucie Walker sing passionate songs about smoky dance halls, 18-wheelers, burning love, and broken hearts. Heartfelt harmonies that could pry a tear from a tumbleweed, and toe-tapping barnburners that keep a crowd movin'.
Their exciting Texas/Americana sound led to a gig opening for country star, Terri Clark, while their songs have found their way onto the big screen: 9 of their tunes in 3 feature films (3 in Malcolm McDowell's 'The Barber', and 3 in the independent feature, 'Little Boy Blues', and 3 in 2005's 'Rapid Fire').
With a fan-base growing exponentially by word-of-mouth alone, these independent artists are prime examples of grassroots success based on good old fashioned talent, and outstanding, radio-friendly songs.

"For many years I felt there was ‘something missing’ in my life. As a child my dream was to be a pilot or an actress. I followed that dream and with determination and not without many challenges, moved into a very successful career in the film industry. But I still felt emptiness inside. Through a series of amazing synchronicities my life changed completely. I was tested on many levels – faced my greatest fears, moved through emotional traumas and events and surrendered into trust. I could never have imagined what I was to experience. The magic began when I was swimming in the ocean and a pod of dolphins surrounded me. We spent the next couple of hours playing together. I felt the phenomenon of true Bliss for the first time in my life. I knew my life was about to change. I followed and found my JOY. I feel very blessed to have this opportunity to share some of my story with you." |

Carol Ann Munro
"In 1987 I had cancer surgery and as I was being wheeled down the hall, I made a commitment “to go to the source of the cancer.” I was at the peak of my career fulfilling a life-long vision to redevelop an urban ski area for children to have a safe place to learn a great sport. Four years later I awoke to the message “it’s time to go now.” So began a journey that stripped me of any semblance of my life as I had known it and with a commitment to reconnect with my two eldest sons whom I had given up for adoption at their births, to clear my plate, and to model a better me for my son and daughter I had raised. Had I known what was hidden on my plate to unravel it is unlikely I would have taken the journey and it is unlikely I would be alive today to tell the story. I remain in awe and wonder at the magnificence of the human spirit to rise above their circumstances to become who they truly are and I trust I model this in my everyday living to inspire others to optimize their potential." |

Drawn to the music being made by artists like the Dixie Chicks and Rascal Flatts, Joyelle found that country music was her new passion. She took this new inspiration and combined it with her longtime love of great folk songwriters like James Taylor, and blended the two to create her new sound. Currently in pre-production for her first solo CD, Joyelle is starting over on a whole new adventure. |

Becoming a parent is always a challenging time. Learning to deal with the needs of a small, squalling dictator is tough. When I became a parent three years ago, it was the fulfillment of a dream, but also a constant and painful reminder of the abuse I had suffered growing up. This is my story of learning to be the kind of parent I wish I’d had, and ending the cycle of alcoholism and abuse that has plagued my family.

Gord McDougall
Gord's life was a disaster in December 2002. He had just had a heart attack (first one) and his financial and personal world was collapsing. Then a miracle happened when a stranger, a grandmotherly woman from Texas, knocked on his door one day. He was lucky or smart enough to see that he was being
offered a new life. And he grabbed hold of that opportunity.
Then in January 2007 he had his second heart attack, and that led to his learning about and embracing holistic living, and avoiding having open heart surgery. He has reversed his heart disease with no medical intervention, and he has the scientific proof to prove it. But when you see him in person you
will see that it is true.
Today Gord has an amazing life, and is thriving in ways that are hard to believe. His is a truly inspirational story. |

Brian Haley
Brian has been influenced by a unique cross-pollination of different genres: roots, blues, folk-rock, country-rock, jazz, R&B, world-beat, and others. However, the main influence on the music (and especially the lyrics) has been the ever constant ebb and flow of life itself; the ups and downs of this journey we call life. The songs on Brian's debut album - grokkin' the river - are a reflection of this journey through life, love, and the great mystery of it all.

Frank Delorme
"I am a single father of three sons and a daughter. My life begins with my children, and continues each day as we grow together. Presently I work at the First United Church Mission, as the community liaison worker. I am a former drug user, and dealer, and spent a number of years immersed in that life. My upbringing was achieved through a succession of foster care homes, and group homes, and later in life the military played a significant part, along with some time in jails. All that which I have experienced has taught me, shaped me, and brought me to this point in my life, a place where I am not alone. Presently I work at the First United Church Mission, and have for the past five years, and despite the realities which may bombard us from time to time, there is no other “job” I would embrace the way I have at the First. I am now turning 50 years old and I am amazed that it has been that long I have been here, only really waking up over the past eighteen years and now I am ready to live!"

Symentha Holmes
"The first time I heard Symentha Sing, my body, heart and soul swelled with feeling and emotion. I was taken on a journey to an unknown, mystical world with her melodic and angelic tone. Symentha's sound is like the fragrance of a rare, exotic, delicious flower. I have been transformed like this over and over again by her sensual voice and haunting lyrics. Her sacred music has altered me for life. Thank you for 'Spirit' coming through her." |

Austin Hennessey
At the early age of seven, Irish born Austin had insight into his life calling: he felt called to be a priest. His parents were devoutly religious and were overjoyed when he went to a Catholic Seminary. There he had many deeply moving experiences – often the voice of Spirit in dreams. After four years he was told in a dream that he was to leave the seminary. The following day, a chance encounter in the seminary orchard with an ‘angel’ confirmed the dream. His spiritual advisor told him it was not an angel but the ‘devil’ who was calling him away. That experience set his feet in a new direction. The messages continued to guide him. He came to understand that love, not fear should be his guide. He left the seminary and would meet the ‘angel’ again two years later. The revealing dreams continued and love guided his path. He and his 'angel' were guided to another seminary where they were ordained as Unity ministers. Years later they felt the call to create a spiritual community in Vancouver where love is felt and lives are changed, and in time they would teach others how to probe the mystery and experience the ecstasy of intimate love. He believes that when we speak the language of Love, we will be divinely guided in every moment of our existence.

Christine Brayshaw
“'Adversity as a great teacher', 'When surrendering wins the battle', 'From humbleness to success', 'Counting my blessings' and 'Credit where credit is due', could each or all be bi-lines leading into my story. You might wonder how a history of childhood abuse could turn into blessings, well it has. I have learned to understand the whole truth, forgive and love again. The battle of addiction was fought with an enemy far stronger than me and the harder I fought the stronger it got." |

Three Pound Cloud
Have you ever sat in the grass, looked up at the sky, found familiar shapes in the dreamy clouds floating high above, and wondered, “How much does a cloud weigh?”
Just as clouds drift and change from soft & light to dark & brooding, so does the music of Three Pound Cloud. Marky Magicfingers tickles the ivories and Dolly Sparklemittens sings the melodies in this Canadian musical duo.
Drawing on inspiration from a magical bunny named Moonglow, they formed Three Pound Cloud to be a symbol of love and light in this world. With their whimsical, piano pop, Three Pound Cloud is crafting songs both memorable and enchanting, offering music lovers a delightful romp through Wonderland. |

Mark Fenster
Forgiveness, Reconciliation and Compassion: "I am the first son of 2 holocaust survivors, and when I first moved to Vancouver I was asked to give the opening speech at a memorial service for the holocaust - Yom Hashoah - in 1999. I didn't know what to say, mainly because although it would have been all too easy to continue the same talk that we've heard over the decades, I didn't agree with the idea of "blame" and continuing the same hurtful legacy of the pains human beings are capable of repeating upon one another; instead I wished to look forward, learn from the past and move toward a more forgiving, tolerant, compassionate model of human existence. I wrote a speech about just that, explaining how my dad survived the war because of the courageous efforts of a nazi SS officer and an African American soldier ... and how my mom survived because of a heroic woman and a French Catholic family who risked their own lives to save a young child's."

Their wonderful vocal harmonies were breathtaking; their musicianship was outstanding and their selection of materials was thoughtfully put together. Any concert, gathering or benefit will be lucky to have this talented duo performing for them"
